Initially conceived of as 4 separate cassettes or a 5-CD box set, constraint and limitations pushed this massive collection of live & rehearsal recordings into the digital home. In-the-moment recordings spanning 2005-2018 give but glimpse of the panorama that the group evolved through, not even beginning to hint at the possibilities to endure afterwards.
From solo explorations into progressively larger mixed groupings, a focus shifted over the years towards staging one-time-only realizations of the duo's music by new and contrasting means in concert. This compilation offers 3 different types of trio configurations, works with string quintet, works with small ensemble, and works with gamelan orchestra (with nods to Badalamenti and Terry Allen along the way).
This powerful collection exhibits growth, bolstered and pruned by the depth of talent and intuition found in the community.
